Megan Dent is a Brisbane based professional makeup artist who decided after 10 years of having make-up as her hobby and passion to take her interest in the beauty industry further and complete her certificate in Beauty Therapy and Nails.

In 2006 Megan decided to take her beauty skills to yet another level and open a home beauty salon called MY Beauty (her maiden name initials - Megan Yandell)

Megan Dent is the owner of MY Beauty @ Fitness First, Carindale. Throughout her career Megan had been a personal assistant, event manager, make-up artist, beauty editor and now a beauty therapist.   Her wide-range of creative talents have culminated in a business she is both very proud of and passionate about.

MY Beauty was voted as a finalist (top six) in the 2008 Business Acheiver Awards. And most recently Megan was asked to join the Beauty Editors of Cleo and the Australian Womens Weekly on stage in Brisbane to perform make-overs for the “30 Days of Fashion” events.

Megan's art of making people feel beautiful on the outside as well as the inside, has meant she has a very loyal following of clients and friends, for which she feels very blessed.

Megan recently took some time away from MY Beauty to have her beautiful baby boy Byron. She is now back in the salon part-time and joined by her good friend and salon manager Courtney Russell.

Courtney Russell joined the MY Beauty team in March 2009 to take over the business while Megan went on maternity leave.

Courtney and Megan trained together as Beauty Therapists at the Queensland School of Beauty many years ago. Courtney has also completed her certificate in beauty therapy, gel nails, spray tanning and make-up artistry as well as working in several salons and day spa’s in Brisbane.

She has also vast experience in bridal and special occassion make-up and has worked with many brides over the last few years as well as assisting Megan with wedding work and make-up training.

Courtney is an exceptional Beauty Therapist and is committed to keeping MY Beauty clients happy and looking fantastic! Her committment to the business and to making clients look and feel their absolute best makes her an asset to the MY beauty team.

Giving Back to the Community

Megan donates her time and make-up skills to a volunteer program – Look Good, Feel Better: a free community service program dedicated to providing education on make-up and skin care to women undergoing treatment for cancer. The purpose of the program is to help them manage the appearance related side effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, thereby helping to restore their appearance and self image.

Megan remarks that these women are always so pleased with their new looks.  "They were so appreciative - each woman felt beautiful and glowed with a newly found confidence.  “When I was given the opportunity to offer my services to a program like Look Good, Feel Better, I was honoured to contribute my time."
